In February of 2002 my husband and I took on a huge project, building our own house. I was not adverse to hard work, but my body suffered nonetheless. By the time we finished our new home in June of 2003 I had popping in my knee and constant hip pain.
Naturally, the first thing I did was go to my medical doctor. She examined me and could not find anything wrong with either my hip or my knee. She did say I had probably injured my back and recommended physical therapy. I went to physical therapy and did all of the exercises they gave me, but it didn't work.
I was a believer in chiropractic. I had used it in the past with much success. I was ready to give chiropractic another try.
Fortunately, I had a change with my insurance and had to choose a new medical doctor. My new doctor examined both my hip and knee and could not find anything wrong. I told her I would like to try chiropractic. She wanted me to try physical therapy again, and she said if it didn't work this time, she would refer me to a chiropractor. Again I went to physical therapy, again I did all the exercises they suggested, and again, it didn't help.
Neither medical doctor was able to find anything physically wrong with me, yet every day I suffered from pain. It got in the way of me doing the things I wanted to do around my new house, like gardening, but the worst thing was that I was not able to lift and carry my new granddaughter! At this point I thought I would live with this pain every day for the rest of my life.
Finally I was referred to Dr. Hesselberg's office. On my first visit I was given a physical examination including an x-ray of my spine. They immediately found the problem with my knee. The knee was not tracking properly when I walked due to a muscle imbalance in my leg, causing the popping. He gave me exercises for the knee and immediately began chiropractic adjustments for my spine to balance my pelvis and remove stress from my knee.
I began getting regular adjustments, and soon regretted that it had taken so long for me to get chiropractic care. It took some time for me to really notice a change and the change was gradual, but I was determined to stick with it, besides, I enjoyed my visits. Everyone at Hesselberg Chiropractic was always pleasant and welcoming. And best of all, today, six month after my first visit, I am pain free! This last summer my husband and I hiked 50 miles in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I do all the things I want to do including carrying my granddaughter! Thank you Hesselberg Chiropractic for giving me my life back!
